Our Mission
Redcar and Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency is a charity focused on Social Action, offering practical support and advocacy for registered charities, social enterprises and the hundreds of grass roots groups that make up the vibrant and growing voluntary sector in Redcar and Cleveland.
Our Charitable Objects
The company is established to promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the community throughout the local government area of Redcar & Cleveland and beyond in such ways as the trustees shall from time to time decide (hereinafter called the ‘area of benefit’) and in particular, the advancement of education, the furtherance of health and the relief of poverty, distress and sickness.
Our History
RCVDA was originally established as a charity in 1984 and was registering on the Charity Commission register on 27th March 1985 as the Langbaurgh Volunteer Bureau (Registered Charity No. 516233). It was incoporated as Company Limited by Guarantee on 4th June 1992 (Registered Company No. 02720382). We changed our name to Redcar & Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency on 10th June 1996.
The original purpose of The Langbaurgh Volunteer Bureau was stated as:
To undertake voluntary work in education, social services, and similar charitable activities amongst those classes in need.
Although our area of operations and our objectives may have expanded over time we here at RCVDA believe our work to help the community has been consistent.
